puteri santubong puteri sejinjang
penjaga gunung negeri sarawak
manis sik ada dapat dilawan
anak dak dewa turun kayangan

* sambil menyanyi lagu puteri santubong*

we hiked mount santubong one day before i left sarawak for sabah. memang dahsyat la naik gunung santubong itu bagi kami perempuan2 yang tidak fit. kenapa dahsyat sedangkan tinggi dia half of kinabalu pun. sebab trek santubong tidak sebersih kinabalu. i mean, kinabalu kan selalu ada perkerja naik turun, kalau ada apa2 kekurangan laju ja orang baiki. gunung santubong ini jarang orang naik, i guess.

balik sabah, flight awal pagi..sampai rumah, abang saya ejek "kenapa kau bejalan ketam?"
------ko tidak taw macamana sakit badan saya! tidur pun tidak mampu pusing kanan kiri.

viewpoint from f7-f8. nampak dah sungai sarawak

what a loss, we need 2 hours 30 mins to reach the top

90 deg rope trail

i just came back from bako np and this is the second time i went there. last time i go there just to follow my friends doing some sampling, collecting frog and bufo specimens. and this time trip is for park and wildlife management course. i can say that i like this course because simply to say, i love forest since ever and everything in it. in this course actually we are learning about the protected area in malaysia, how to manage a protected area, what are the laws and how to enforce it and stuff.

so, what are we doing during the trip? actually, the main reason for this trip is to gain knowledge and experience on of course, the park management. at the same time, we were provided some questionnaires for the tourists to fill in. the visitors mostly are the non-locals, specifically the orang putih. so, we have to be more confidence to face them and kindly ask some of their time to fill in the questionnaire. gosh, we were so annoying orange!

the second day of the trip, we went trekking to serait trails, 1.25 km, and i am so excited and most energetic one in our group. i lead my group until we reached the boundary of the park. the forest that next to the park, not the park's, we can see the differences between the two forests. an example is trees were cut for logging as in the park, of course logging are forbidden kan. so, i am the most energetic one, right? hahaha. not anymore when we trekking home. pancit habis!

i am interested to work in the forest. i swear i will make my body fit and suitable enough for forest if someone take me work with them. in fact, after grad, before i have a real job, i've planned to be a volunteer in any conservation project. tidak kisah, in-situ conservation or ex-situ conservation. but i am thinking of in-situ conservation.

enough with the dreaming, today we did the good indeed as we cleaned up the beach and the jetty area. it is, got a lot of rubbish along the beach, even the e-waste. at first we thought the rubbish is from the people who live there in bako np include the visitors, but actually it came there by water flowing from the villages near the national park. you know, stereotype much.

i completely forgot my final year project already once i reached there until one kakak, grad from unimas now working with sarawak forest (i guess), ask us how's the project went. damn it! i got a lot of work to do now i remember it. :(

p/s: this time, during the boat cruise i saw a croc, (are they locomotion in the water is called swimming?) finally!

c'est tout !

life is not always full of joy and luck. sometimes, we will encounter with multiple of problems and may did some mistakes. but it's okay, they are a part of life. it wouldn't be normal if you are living in a perfect life all the time. in fact, perfect life was never exist.

a friend of mine used to say, a grateful man will receive misfortune because it is a sign from Allah that He loves us. it is your choice as you want to deal with it positively or negatively. if you take it positively, it will give you a good deed instead, if otherwise, it is just cause you more troubles.

each living thing were already have their own problem to concern. i could be a listener for your problems and will help you if i can. but, if you just keep repeat the same thing without any effort to solve it, you might lose me. we have our own problems so yours is the least of our concerns.

be grateful, not for me, not for anyone, but for your own sake. learn with it. get used to face it. because at the end of the day, no one can help you.

at Bako NP
i used to say that, i wanted a bird as a friend. so it can bring me high to the sky.

" The worst thing that can happen during the 1980s is not energy depletion, economic collapse, limited nuclear war, or conquest by a totalitarian government. As terrible as theses catastrophes would be for us, they can be repaired within a few generations. The one process ongoing in the 1980s that will take millions of years to correct is the loss of genetic and species diversity by the destruction of natural habitats. This is the folly that our descendants are least likely to forgive us. "

- E.O Wilson, 1985

so in a few hours, i would be in TR9 of FRST for Conservation Biology. i found that i actually like the study of conservations. in fact, i dream of being a conservation biologist, however, i know i can't be one, due to my abilities. anyhow, the quotes above for me is deeply meaningful. while reading the old notes of this subjects, i found something that had been written by me, as i remember, before the midsemester break.

it was the pros and cons for me going home that passed midbreak. i wrote it on my notes.

d'accord. c'est tout :)
